Riverside Park and Walking Tour

I thought I would upload some photos from the Riverside Park and the walking tour.  The weather has been great on the weekends. So far the lowest temperature has been 55 F.

Aboriginal Performances

My coworker was able to get some tickets to an Aboriginal Show.  I really enjoyed listening to the beautiful voices and songs.  I didn't know what they were saying but it was an awesome experience!

2014 and here AGAIN!!!!

I never thought that I would be back living in Taiwan. It happened so unexpectedly that I'm STILL getting used to the fact that I am here.  Sunday, September the 21st will be a month since I've been back.  Time is flying by already and we are just getting started with classes.  So far, I have completed one English Corner Video, 2 phonics classes for 1st graders, 2 visiting school class in the gym, 3 clinic classes, parent day, English Club, lesson plans, and teaching aides.Talk about being busy!!  During the week, I normally go home and rest.  Okay. Let me be honest.  EVERYDAY I go home to cool off!  It is so hot and humid!!!  I remember this from my previous visit, but I can never get used to it.  It looks like I'm walking around with a wet sponge above my head and someone is constantly squeezing the water out of it. I bet I look really crazy to some of these people. Oh well!  There is nothing that I can do about it.
Not much has changed at Binjiang Elementary School other than the principal and some teachers.  Taipei City now has 12 English Villages!  I can not believe that!  When I left in 2011, there were only 2 and they were building the 3rd.  The government has been busy! I think the concept of an English Village is a good one.  We need a place like this in the U.S. for foreign language teachers and their students.

I thought I posted this but I forgot to hit publish. Lol!

Only 6 More Days!!

Oh my!  It's really official now!  I just booked my hotel reservation!

I will stay 6 days in Cape Town at Cape Diamond Hotel and then spend the remaining time in Bredasdorp and Struisbaai. I don't really have any set plans other than to see as much as possible.  I know I will definitely visit Robben Island for a tour of Mandela's cell given by a former prisoner.  The V & A Waterfront is a must and a place with some jazz music.  I won't stick out as much this time, but I'm pretty sure my presence will scream tourist!

The only thing left to do is to obtain a gift for Liesl and find warm clothes to pack.  If I have time, I will get a pedicure for the beach!  Let the countdown continue!!

Timeout in Taiwan! Wait! I mean South Africa!!!!!

Yes, you read it correctly.  I will soon travel to South Africa for the wedding of my dear friends Liesl and Daniel.  If you can recall, these lovely people are who I spent quite a bit of time with in Taipei.  If it weren't for them, then I'm not sure that I would have experienced as many sights and different foods while being there.  Their wedding will be in Bredasdorp, which is about 2 - 2 1/2 hours away from Cape Town.  My flight departs on Jan 24th and I'm starting to get that nervous/exciting feeling in my gut.  Although my flight is booked, I have yet to get housing all the way in order.  We have a travel agent looking into beach houses for us to share because it would be cheaper for 8 people to share a place vs getting hotel rooms.  This wedding is going to be beautiful and the entire trip will be a reunion to remember.  I will take as many pictures and videos as I can.  Of course, if anything crazy happens, you will read about it as well.  Until then, you have to stay on the countdown with me!
T minus 27 days!!!!
